“Christian Ulbricht`s father, Otto, was so happy on the birth of his first son that he created a nutcracker for the occasion. This nutcracker, for the first time, was in the shape of a bird, and he gave it as a gift to his wife called Welly. In 1997 the successful story for the special event piece began with the "wood pecker" which since then has been followed by a new model each year”.


This piece was limited to 2500, handcrafted in Germany and made available to American collectors in 1997. This piece is #1417 of 2500. It does have some paint wear as shown in the photos. Black paint wear on the base, top of beak, tip of beak, underside of the hat and under beak. This is a vintage piece so wear is expected. Measures approximately 5.5” tall and 6” long (to the edge of beak). Signed by the artist with “Viel Glude!” Which translates from German to English as “a lot of happiness”.
