RARE Smithsonian Institute Imari Ware Serving Platter.
Excellent Gently Used Condition!!! NO chips, no cracks, no crazing...design is wonderfully intact! Minimal signs of use with light utensil marks! It still retains the Vintage "Made in Japan" blue sticker! Please see pics!
This exclusive Smithsonian pattern was adapted from a 16" Imari plate made between 1883 and 1885 and given to the Smithsonian Institute by the Japanese Legation. It is in the Smithsonian Institute''s Asian ethnological collections at the National Museum of Natural History.
Measures about 14" by 10-1/4".
